Kapumpe Chola Kaunda has been appointed as Director at RMB Botswana, effective 1st September 2022, and will be a member of FNB Botswana & RMB Botswana Executive Committees.
Says Kaunda: “I believe that true leadership starts when you provide authentic service to others. I am extremely excited about my appointment and will strive to serve and learn from the remarkable teams at RMB Botswana and FNB Botswana.”
Kaunda has more than 26 years of commercial and investment banking experience. She started her career at Barclays Bank Zambia in 1997 as a Management Trainee. While on the programme for a period of 18 months, her experience included working as a branch teller and then as an executive assistant to 3 EXCO members – Retail, Corporate and Treasury. Upon completion of the programme, Kaunda moved into the Global Markets division as Treasury Sales Manager.
After 3 years, Kaunda left Barclays Bank Zambia for Standard Chartered Bank where she worked for over 14 years in Global Markets and Corporate Banking for Zambia, Botswana as well as the Africa Regional Office. While at Standard Chartered, she carried out bank duties and travelled to over 15 African countries and the UK. Her last posting was with Standard Chartered Botswana where she served as Head: Corporate & Institutional Clients and co-Head of the Wholesale Bank (Global Markets and Corporate).
Kaunda joined FNB Zambia in January 2015 to help set up the Corporate & Investment Banking business, of which she was appointed head in 2016. She held this position until her move to RMB Botswana.
Kaunda holds a Master of Business Administration, Financial Studies from Nottingham University Business School (UK), a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & Public Administration from University of Zambia. She is also a certified Treasury Dealer.
In her spare time, Kaunda enjoys reading, outdoor adventures and music – almost all genres.
